Najeeb Jung Quits as Delhi Lieutenant Governor
NEW DELHI: Najeeb Jung, 66, resigns as the Lieutenant Governor of the national capital.
The reason behind his resignation was apparently him wanting to return to his “first love; academics”. Jung had 18 months left before his tenure was to come to an end.
Sh Jung’s resignation is a surprise to me. My best wishes in all his future endeavours.

While it came as a big “surprise” to the Chief Minister of Delhi Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, sources close of former LG believe this decision was not a sudden one and the thought of abdicating had enthralled his mind for months.
In a statement released from Jung’s office, he thanked “the people of Delhi for all their support and affection, especially during the one year’s President Rule in Delhi, when he got unstinted support from them and which in turn helped run the administration in Delhi smoothly and effortlessly.”
While his reasons to resign from the post are seemingly basic, many Congress Party and AAP leaders are convinced of a bigger, darker truth behind this incident. AAP leader Kumar Vishwas commented that Najeeb Jung probably “was controlled elsewhere” and ran out of choices due to the continuous hostilities he shared with the Delhi government.
While there is nothing new about conspiracies surrounding such an event in the political scenario, the main question at hand remains… Who will become the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi?
